Earth Day Half-Birthday Celebration Week

Join us for a week of celebration including our Green Curbside Hop, Virtual Earth Day Half-Birthday Festival, and volunteer opportunities!

Join us Sunday, October 18th, for an afternoon of environmental thought leaders and activists addressing the impacts of climate change and what you can do about it. Zeke Hausfather, leading climate change model expert, will share his vision of the future. David Lobbig, Curator of the Mighty Mississippi exhibit at the History Museum and Myra Jackson of the Global Freshwaters Summit will discuss climate change impacts through the perspective of our region's place at the Mississippi-Missouri confluence. Other speakers to be announced soon!

Grab your tickets now for the October 15th Green Curbside Hop, a socially distanced treasure hunt through the streets of Maplewood in search of delectable treats from a variety of Green Dining Alliance restaurants. Participants will also receive a gift bag full of items from St. Louis Earth Day Festival vendors (including portable metal straws, wildflower seeds, and much more). Give Back on Earth Day's Half-Birthday

Subaru gives back by sponsoring three socially-distanced volunteer clean-ups around the St. Louis region for Earth Day's Half-Birthday. Gloves and bags will be provided, and each volunteer will receive a Festival Gift Bag. Masks required! Please RSVP here.

  • Saturday, October 17th, 9am - at Marquette Park, in collaboration with Dutchtown South Community Corporation's "So Fresh, So Clean, So Creative" program
  • Saturday, Oct 17th, 1pm - at the North County Agricultural Education Center, in collaboration with A Red Circle
    Join the clean-up for a mini teach-in on North County environmental justice issues and Mayor Terry Epps on his green vision for Pine Lawn.
  • Sunday, Oct 18th, 9am - at Deer Creek Park, Maplewood

In our next virtual program you will learn from local growers within our Local Food Movement, including Tyrean "Heru" Lewis of Heru Urban FarmingJill Duncan of Loving Roots Urban Farm, and Matt Lebon of Custom Foodscaping, who will all speak on a panel on Wednesday, Sept. 23rd at 5:30pm. Crystal Stevens and Alex Queathem, co-founders of the Tend and Flourish School of Botanicals, will present Introduction to Community Herbalism on Thursday, Sept. 24th at 5:30pm.

Our latest virtual program gave solutions to decreasing food waste in the context of Reducing, Reusing, and Recycling. For Recycle, Matt from BLH Farm presented on their Bokashi and composting processes. Kitchen House Coffee demonstrated creative options for using leftovers for Reuse. Finally, Margaret Lilly of the St. Louis County Department of Public Health presented strategies for Reducing Your Food Waste at home. Check out the entire program here!
