30 Trees for 30 Years

On Saturday, May 25th, volunteers, neighbors, earthday365 staff, and St. Louis Earth Day Festival Founders met to take part in a celebratory tree planting that took place in historic O'Fallon Park, St. Louis in honor of the 30th Anniversary St. Louis Earth Day Festival.

earthday365 board member, Colleen Autry, wanted to create a project for the community that would last for future generations, and incorporate the 30th theme.

Colleen explained,

“Planting these 30 trees will provide shade and beauty for the next thirty years and beyond, in O’Fallon Park. Our city parks are one of the biggest assets to residents of St. Louis, as they provide green space, recreation, habitat, and help support a more sustainable future for our neighbors.

Individual Actions make a Difference

Jen Myerscough, Executive Director of earthday365, wrote a letter to the editor of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch on behalf of their editorial "Bloomberg's work with St. Louis on warming can reverse rampant complacency".

Our impact on the environment starts with individual action. Let's focus on "what each of us as individuals in the community can do to reduce our environmental impact, become more efficient and use our limited natural resources more wisely." Click here to read Jen's letter to the editor.

2019 St. Louis Earth Day Film Series Wrap Up

The 2nd annual St. Louis Earth Day Film Series entertained as well as enlightened St. Louis area residents during the month of April as an accompaniment to the 30th Anniversary of the St. Louis Earth Day Festival. Throughout the St. Louis region, nine venues screened eight environmental films to audiences big and small.

During Mastercard's private film screening of "More Than Honey", the earthday365 staff was honored to be given a tour of their O'Fallon, Missouri campus that highlighted the company's global sustainability efforts. This screening alone reached over 4,000 of their local employees, plus Mastercard’s national and international locations.

A special “Thank You” to the venues involved including Washington University, The Stage at KDHX, Pat Connolly’s Tavern, The Moolah Theatre, The Tau Center, Mastercard Campus, Curtain Call Lounge, University of Missouri St. Louis, and T-REX for inviting the community to watch a free screening. And, thank you to earthday365 staff member Rachel Lynch, for dedicating her time and effort in making this film series incredible.

"The 2nd Annual St. Louis Earth Day Film Series was a wonderful success. By giving environmentally passionate community members a platform to share their observations and experiences, the St. Louis region has become a more environmentally conscious and informed community. Hopefully with that knowledge comes the need and path forward for positive change" says Rachel.
