On April 22nd, 1970, the first Earth Day took place with the participation of 20 million Americans. This monumental day sparked environmental action worldwide such as the creation of the Clean Air Act, the Clean Water Act, the Endangered Species Act, and the Environmental Protection Agency.

Photo features President Richard Nixon and First Lady Pat Nixon planting a tree in in honor of the first Earth Day.

In the midst of social distancing, join us from the comfort of your home during April 18-26th at earthday-365.org, as we bring our well-known St. Louis Earth Day Festival online -- Virtual Earth Day Festival! The virtual festival will showcase environmental interactive web content connecting the public on a local and national level to organizations who share earthday365’s environmental values. We'll send you a link to the Virtual Festival when it opens at midnight on April 18th - please register below!
