It's baaaaaaack... We'd like to invite you to our revamped fundraiser Taste of Green: Celebrating Food Waste Champions. We've combined two beloved past events - Taste of Green and the St. Louis Food Waste Challenge. Come join the fun with curated small bites from Green Dining Alliance (GDA) restaurants, a photo booth, DJ, silent auction, and complimentary wine, beer, and Mighty Kind infused and non-infused seltzers. Plus, learn about the creative ways GDA restaurants are reducing their food waste this fall.
We are so excited to see what these local leaders in circularity accomplished in October, and we invite you to hear all about their achievements at this event on Thursday, November 20th from 6pm to 9pm!
You'll have the opportunity to taste their creative food waste strategies yourself, as the Food Waste Challenge restaurants will be serving unique hors d'oeuvre creations made from their own food scraps. Participating restaurants include Alpha Brewing Co. (pretzel bites with pilsner beer queso), Crema Coffeehouse (house-made baked bread pudding with loaf ends - veggie), Olive + Oak (ricotta salata stuffed polenta "pupusas" with Italian salsa verde - veggie + GF), Snarf's Sandwiches, and Sugarwitch (roasted kabocha ice cream with kabocha seed brittle and ginger snap crumble - veggie), plus SLAM's Panorama (inspired dish using decorative pumpkins) and Baileys' Restaurants (house-made pretzel bites with Carolina mustard sauce).
Silent auction items so far include an In-Home Wine Tasting for up to 12 people from PRP Wine, artwork by local artist Lisa Young, two tickets to The Rep's Emma, a two night stay at an Elsah, IL cottage, two bottles and a private tour + tasting from Switchgrass Spirits, a Downtown Architectural Walking Tour, framed botanical prints by Robert John Thornton, "Bob the Banker" Litter Bug made from repurposed materials by Bob Vavra, 6 month composting subscription with New Earth Farm, CITY SC basket including a CITY SC jersey signed by the team, family or portrait session by C. Smyth Photography, a private flower arranging class for 12 + 2026 MOBOT calendar and passes, a class spot to EarthDance's Spring Training for Gardeners Online Course, a Forest Bathing experience + book of haiku & senryu by Ben Gaa: A Wild Blue Sky, and a glass coral sculpture by local artist Ethan Glassworks.
Tickets are $75 and include free wine, beer, and Mighty Kind infused and non-infused seltzers. Guests will also receive a voucher for a free 375mL growler from City Winery to try out their refill program. Members receive a $10 discount - check your email for that discount code! Help the GDA in their mission to support restaurants in achieving their sustainability goals and celebrate their successes.
