Pumpkin Composting is Back!

We are making it easy for you to keep pumpkins out of our area landfills by bringing them to our office now through November 30th for composting!

1.3 billion pounds of pumpkins are thrown out each year once Halloween has passed. Most of them end up in landfills where they decompose, producing methane, and contributing to climate change. Instead of just trashing your pumpkin, repurpose it! Eat the seeds, make a soup or veggie stock, bake pumpkin bread, or even just compost it in your own backyard. Critters like chickens and squirrels love the tasty treat too.

Candles/wax and paint do not compost and need to be removed before composting. Bring your pumpkins to our office parking lot and put them in one of the yellow totes in the far corner of the lot. Don't forget to text us!

Transitioning to a Circular Economy

OneSTL's November 29th Sustainability Lab at 3:30 pm at T-Rex will focus on circularity and local actions taking place to realize an economic system that eliminates waste.

Speakers will include Katie Carpenter on Perennial's Clothing Swaps and Repair Fair, Dr. Jess Watson on earthday365's Kind Box reusable container program, Jordan Blackhurst on the refill program at
Dharma + Dwell, and Kurt Dreiser on UCBC's spent grain and yeast reuse program.
